Thexar-VI: Khal-Vex-El — Sha-El 10: Thel-El Khal-sha — Infrastructure

"The network is not roads and not wires. The network is what connects the desire of one with the possibility of another. Infrastructure is the body of society. A sick body cannot desire." — Guild of Engineers, "The Body of Society," +3 100 Y.E.

Ruun-ak rass: → rhu [Thexar-VI, Sha-El 02, "Thar-Vex Khal-sha"], → rhu [Thexar-VI, Sha-El 03, "Xha-Ven Khal-sha"], → rhu [Thexar-VI, Sha-El 09, "Vex-Thel Khal-sha"], → rhu [Thexar-III, Sha-El 03, "Khal-Ven Rass"] Mor-ven: Infrastructure is the least visible and most important of technologies: it distributes energy, water, information, and food so that their absence becomes an event. The main lines of civilization are not visible — energy through thermonuclear circuits, information through mycelium, movement through resonance corridors. This chapter describes the six networks and how they form a single organism.

10.1 The Energy Network

Source Share Power (GW) Note
Thermonuclear stations (Th + He-3) 68% 1 560 Primary
Solar (including orbital) 17% 390 Equatorial belt
Geothermal 9% 210 Raal plateau, Rhuval nests
Hydro and tidal 4% 92 Rivers of Kharak, straits
Biological (photosynthesis) 2% 46 Urban facades, farms
Total 100% ~2 300 Kardashev ≈ 0.64

214 thermonuclear stations along the thorium provinces of Kharak (52% of reserves) and at the poles where He-3 is extracted.

Transmission (not by wires but resonance circuits — standing waves in the gravitational-electromagnetic lattice):

System Range Losses Status
Resonance circuits Up to 12 000 km ~3% Primary
Cryogenic lines Up to 1 000 km ~1% Auxiliary
Local bio-circuits Up to 100 km ~0% Urban

Storage: Ven-Khal crystal batteries 1 GW·h/m³ (years), living photosynthetics (months), geothermal buffers (days), orbital accumulators 10 GW·h (hours).

10.2 The Water Network

Hydrosphere 67% of surface; water distributed by living conduits — walls grown from Thar-Vex, populated with filtering organisms; water purified en route.

System Volume Note
Living conduits 9 billion m³/y 640 000 km, mycelial channels
Desalination colonies 1.2 billion m³/y Coastal, hybrid bio-filters
Underground reservoirs 240 billion m³ Nest-warehouses
Atmospheric condensers 0.6 billion m³/y Shan Desert, highlands

The right to water is vested in every living being regardless of species.

10.3 The Information Network

Tier Composition Function
Underground ~12 billion km of hyphae, Rass-Mor nodes Trunk
Surface Relays, urban colonies Distribution
Orbital Crystal reflectors (12 000 satellites) Communication with space

Bandwidth is formally unlimited (quantum entanglement); the infrastructural task is addressing: cryptographic control of entangled states forms network security.

Memory: Guild of Keepers repository holds 4×10²⁹ TB across 12 400 vaults, including a duplicate archive on Thel.

10.4 The Transport Network

Surface:

System Speed Length
Resonance corridors (GR) Instant step up to 8 000 km 212 nodes
Maglev lines 650 km/h 1 900 000 km
Bio-carriers 120 km/h Routes
Waterways 60 km/h 450 000 km

Space: Orbital elevator (1 operating, 38 200 km); second under construction since +3 000; Orbital Forest (24 stations, permanently inhabited); Xha-Vokh interplanetary routes. Orbital and surface networks form a single circuit.

10.5 The Waste Network and the Closed Cycle

Stream Volume Recycling
Industrial waste 420 M t/y 96.2%
Biological waste 890 M t/y 100% (composting)
Spent building materials 210 M t/y 96.4%
Atmospheric emissions 0.6 M t/y Scrubber colonies
Space debris 0.04 M t/y Orbital "shepherds"

Orbital "shepherds" — young Xha-Vokh that collect spent satellites; thanks to them the orbital environment remains clean. The closure is a historical imperative: the civilization survived ecological collapse (−2 150) and has no intention of repeating it (→ rhu [Thexar-II, Sha-El 04, "Thar-Xa-Khal"]).

10.6 Settlements and Domains

Parameter Value
Urban population ~62%
Largest city Khar-Vexar (18.6 M)
Cities >1 million 240
Clusters 200–800 thousand

Cities are designed around six infrastructural roots: energy circuit, water conduit, Xha-Ven node, GR node, feeding farm, and resonator.

Domain Capital Infrastructural Feature
Kharak-center Khar-Vexar Energy network core
Kharak-north Verxan Thorium stations, polar nests
Rhuval-east Moraat Crystal farms, GR nodes
Rhuval-west Raal Geothermal circuits, deep housing
Vexar-south Sharrus REE production, ocean ports
Vexar-north Irkhen Water condensers, highlands
Oceanic Floating Moryn networks, biophotonic relays
Orbital Khar-Oko Elevator, Orbital Forest

10.7 Life Support of Settlements

Autonomous for 90–120 days (covering crisis periods of any network):

System Coverage Reserve
Food 100% local farms 90 d
Water 100% 120 d
Energy 100% (resonance + local) 90 d
Information 100% (Xha-Ven) Local Ven-Khal

The principle is redundancy through diversity: not one giant system but six independent ones, deliberately weakly connected — a legacy of the First Empire's collapse with its centralized infrastructure.

10.8 Management of Infrastructure

Guild Responsibility
Engineers Energy, transport, construction
Keepers Information, archives, memory
Agriculturists Water, food, bio-network
Medics Sanitary systems, environmental hygiene
Navigators GR corridors, space logistics
Miners Raw-material flows

Infrastructure planning: horizon of 500 years (The-Ven computer), revised every 36 years — the senary planning cycle.

10.9 The Limits of Infrastructure

Limit Consequence
Speed of light Space communication has propagation delay
Magnetosphere GR corridors bounded by the planet
Living material No network in vacuum or at T > 1 400 °C
Scale of the biosphere Carrying capacity of Théxar bounded
Ban on strong AI Biological nodes, not "thinking machines"
