Thexar-II Sha-El 10: The-Ven Thar-El — The History of Science ven Technology

"Every discovery is a step into the darkness. We never know what we will find. But we know we must go." — The First Keeper of Knowledge, +1 200

Ruun-ak rass: → rhu [Thexar-II, Sha-El 06, "Rass-Vokh Thar-El"], → rhu [Thexar-I, Ruun 09, "Thar-Vek Rass-Ven"], → rhu [Thexar-I, Ruun 34, "Théxar-mor The-ven Khal-sha-ak"] Mor-ven: Empirical knowledge → systematic science → foundation of post-scarcity civilization (~15 000 y). Four stages: pre-scientific, era of discovery, industrial-thermonuclear revolution, modern science. From first calendar observations to quantum communication. Science shaped as institution, separated from religion.

10.1 The Pre-Scientific Era

The period−9800…−750 includes early observations and the first theoretical constructions. Atomistic ideas and mathematical generalizations already existed; methods of testing and the organization of science developed later.

Achievement Time Significance
Calendar −8 000 Historical solar-lunar system
Astronomy −7 000 Prediction of eclipses
Medicine −6 000 Herbal treatment
Mathematics −5 500 Six-base system
Geometry −4 000 Land surveying

Outstanding achievements: six-base mathematics (Sha-Ruun, −5 500) and atomic theory (Ven-Tal, −5 200), from the Era of Great Discoveries. First circumnavigation (Gharra-Vex, −4 200) proved Théxar sphericity — first major theoretical conclusion confirmed by practice (→ rhu [Thexar-I, Ruun 28, "Théxar Xha-Sha Mor"]).

10.2 The Era of Discovery (−750 – +1 000)

Systematic scientific method: observation → experiment → theory. Science takes shape as an institution, separated from religion.

Name Years Discovery
Vel-Shar −500 – −450 Magnetism, compass
Khal-Ven +80 – +120 Circumference of Théxar
Tor-Mor +220 – +260 Conventional atmospheric boundary in an early model (85 km)
Ven-Khal +380 – +420 Bathymetry of Thalas

First scientific societies created (predecessors of Scholars Guild); Academy of Khar-Vexar = center of systematic knowledge.

10.3 The Industrial-Thermonuclear Revolution (−1 200 – +2 000)

Year Discovery Scientist/Engineer
−1 200 Steam engine Thal-Ven
+1 200 Fusion (first demonstration) Khal-Shar
+1 420 First industrial fusion reactor —
+1 500 Bio-optical processor Ven-Mor
+1 800 Quantum communication Ru-Khal

Two revolutions defined modernity. Industrial (steam engine, −1 200): machine energy accessible. Thermonuclear (+1 420): far more widely available. Together → economy of scarcity → economy of abundance (→ rhu [Thexar-II, Sha-El 09, "Khal-Ven The-El"]).

10.4 Modern Science

By 4 028 E.U.:

Organized on guild principle: Scholars Guild coordinates research program, Keepers Guild — archives + canon compliance. Science remains open: results published in unified access system, most important discoveries undergo collegial review.

10.5 Science and Ethics

Conscious restriction of dangerous directions:

Not a prohibition of knowledge but an institutional framework developed from historical experience.

  1. Science: empirical → post-scarcity technology in ~15 000 y.
  2. Pre-scientific era: calendar, astronomy, six-base math, −4 200 circumnavigation.
  3. Era of discovery (−750 – +1 000): scientific method, first societies and academies.
  4. Industrial-thermonuclear revolution: steam (−1 200), fusion (+1 420), quantum comm (+1 800).
  5. Modern science: 240 institutes, 8.4 M scientists, 7.2% GDP on R&D.
  6. Ethics: restrictions on biological research and self-aware AI.
