Thexar-II Sha-El 02: Xha-Sha Vokh-El — Early Civilization

"First came the word. Not divine — rational. First came the mark on clay, a sign meaning 'grain'. Then — a sign meaning 'house'. Then — a sign meaning 'people'. Thus history was born." — History of Writing, Academy of Khar-Vexar

Ruun-ak rass: → rhu [Thexar-II, Sha-El 01, "Xha'ri Thar-Vokh"], → rhu [Thexar-I, Ruun 07, "Xha-Sha Mor"], → rhu [Thexar-I, Ruun 06, "The-Sha-Ruun"] Mor-ven: Era −9 800 → −6 200 (3 600 y). Transition: kin groups → cities, crafts, first states. Proto-writing −9 780 (3 independent centers). Khar-Vexar −7 800 — oldest continuously inhabited city. Copper −9 200. Theocratic chiefdom → Code of Khar −7 200 → First Empire −6 150.

The first river settlements

2.1 Invention of Writing

−9 780 — proto-writing, independent in 3 regions: Thar Valley (Kharak), Rhuval coast, S Vexar. Oldest + most developed = Thar Valley.

3 independent inventions → societies dense/complex enough to need fixing info; not an accident but social-evolution product.

Stage Period Type Example
Pictograms −9 800 – −9 500 Object drawings grain
Ideograms −9 500 – −9 200 Abstract signs god/spirit
Syllabographs −9 200 – −8 500 Syllabic signs xha
Logograms −8 500 Word-signs Xha'Ruun

Accumulation, not replacement → mixed syllabo-logographic system → classical Sha'Ruun script (→ rhu [Thexar-I, Ruun 06]).

2.2 First Cities

Sedentism + surplus + written accounting → city.

City Founded Population (peak) Significance
Thar-Vex ~−11 500 — Oldest settlement, protocity
Khar-Vexar −7 800 18.6 M (current) Oldest continuously inhabited
Thar-Mor −7 200 2.3 M Religious center
Ven-Khal −6 800 12.4 M (current) Trade center Rhuval

Khar-Vexar — founded −7 800 atop Thar-Vex; first true city (temples, bureaucracy, fortifications). Continuously inhabited since — oldest on Théxar.

Cities arose at intersection of: fertile valley + trade routes + cult center. Thar-Mor = religious center (early priestly schools → Teaching of Vibration, → rhu [Thexar-I, Ruun 10]).

2.3 Crafts and Metallurgy

Material Appearance Application
Obsidian, flint pre-civ era Work tools
Pottery ~−9 500 Storage, firing
Copper −9 200 (Kharak mines) Tools, ornaments, ritual
Bronze end of era Alloys begin

−9 200 copper = technological threshold. Specialized craftsmen = first professional group outside food production → required surplus + redistribution → accelerated stratification.

2.4 Social Stratification

Mid-era: kin group → territorial (neighboring) community.

Theocratic chiefdom: high priest-leader = cult + justice + distribution in one. → precondition for emperor institution (→ rhu [Thexar-II, Sha-El 03, "The First Empire"]).

2.5 Trade Networks (by end of era)

Standardized weights (±2% identical mass across settlements) → agreed measurement system before unified calendar. Routes: riverine (Thar) + coastal (boats).

2.6 Cults + Temples

Cults systematize → common pantheon, demiurge Khar-Vex supreme. → groundwork for Teaching of Vibration.

2.7 End of Era — First Empire Preconditions

By −6 200: cities, writing, metallurgy, priesthood, trade, codified customs. Missing: political union.

Code of Khar (≈−7 200) — oldest known written legal code: 40 articles on stone stele in Khar-Vexar. Regulated property, marriage (triads), punishments, debts. First step custom → law.

First Empire founded −6 150.
